Strap line – “What you can see, do and join in with”

Thursday 27 June

We kick off the action late Thursday afternoon with the Vets 10s leading the way. 8 teams compete in pools of four for the bragging rights (and beer tokens) in this hotly contested competition. No quarter is given by the “Old Uns” and no matter how many replacement knees and hips are stumbling around, the hits are as big as the beer bellies.

After such a (should have known better) bruising opening it’s to the balcony that we head for our Welcome BBQ. A great chance for players and coaches from every competition to get together, say a friendly hello and enjoy everything that Gibraltar has to offer.

Friday 28 June

The Men’s and Women’s Open competition starts the 2nd day of competition at Europa Point.  16 (possibly 20 TBC) teams competing in their Pool stages. A strong start this year is absolutely vital for every team as the competitions are so closely matched. 7s takes a short break around lunchtime as the Vets return to the field for their finals in the 10s competition – the “beer cup” is likely to be the most prestigious of the weekend.

As well as the afternoon action on the field, join us in the bar for a fantastic beer festival with real ales and traditional lagers from far and wide. Friday night is THE night to be in town so grab a few beers, head into town and see what the night brings

Saturday 29 June

The rugby action continues with the final few pool games for the Open Men and Women and we welcome Netball to the Gib 7s for the very first time on our purpose built court  next to the rugby pitch under the (usually) clear blue skies.

As the competition heats up in the Open competitions, it’s time for the Elite Men and Women to begin their competition in what promises to be an incredible competition where every point counts.

As the day draws to a close it’s time to head for the Cabana Bar Beach Party.  It’s Hawaiian shirt time as the entertainment continues on this shore line venue with a traditional Spanish buffet for the players and a chance to party late into the night.

Sunday 30 June

It’s Finals Day in the Netball and the Elite Competitions and time to turn up the heat.  Serious prize money is at stake and every try, goal, penalty and drop kick, counts in the business end of the tournament.

Catch all the action in the sun, enjoy the Player’s Lounge and Balcony as well as the discounted prices at the Player’s only bar as we reach the finale of this amazing tournament.  Once the points have been calculated and the Champions crowned it’s off to Ocean Village for the Final Party of the weekend.  Enjoy the hospitality, the atmosphere and the food as we say farewell to the Gib 7s for another year.

Men’s Elite Rugby 7s

The Elite Men’s competition has been the highlight of the tournament for the last two years, growing stronger and bigger in 2023. The competition takes place on Friday & Saturday. Viator won the Final again in 2023 with a Golden Score – can anybody un-seat the Reigning Champs in 2024?

Women’s Elite Rugby 7s

Brand new for 2024. Following the interest and success of the women’s competition we are splitting the women into two tiers for 2024. The Women’s Elite will feature some of the best women’s rugby around and will be hugely competitive. The competition takes place on Friday & Saturday.

Men’s Open Rugby 7s

The Open competition is always a great event, balancing brilliance on the field and energy off it. Some of the greatest moments of the tournament are played in this competition, take it seriously, but not too seriously. The competition begins Friday afternoon and finishes Saturday.

Women’s Open Rugby 7s

With the introduction of the Women’s Elite competition for 2024, the Open competition is for the teams who want to come to Gib for a fantastic time and play some rugby – who wouldn’t? The competition runs alongside the Men’s Open on Friday and Saturday. Can anybody beat Sefton Ladies in a dancing competition? Just watch the live stream from last year!

Veteran’s Rugby 10s

Move over youngsters, it’s time for the old, the bold and the very hardy Veteran players to show the way. With competitors all aged 35 or over there is always a former prodigious talent somewhere on the pitch. The Vets competition kicks off the whole tournament late on Thursday afternoon before resuming the battle at lunchtime on Friday.

Women’s Open Netball

Another first for the Gib 7s, this time a brand new sport in the sun. Netball has always worked well alongside rugby 7s and where else could be better than under the Gibraltar sun?

Don’t be fooled by the smiles and dancing, these ladies are hugely competitive and this will be a tense yet friendly addition to our event. The competition takes place on Saturday and Sunday but there may be the odd game for the rugby guys to go alongside Referees vs Umpires.

4 Days of Sport and Sightseeing Activities

Entry to the Tournament on all 4 days is included for your whole team allowing you to enjoy every aspect of the Gibraltar 7s. Fun, sun and a big ROCK.

Support & Help

To aid you through your journey from Team Registration, accreditation, getting around and being where you need to be, our Team Liaison Manager will be with you every step of the way.

Lunch Included

On your two game days lunch will be provided for the whole team in the Player’s Lounge. Snacks and fruit will be available for you throughout the day and a place where you can relax out of the sun or in the sun if you prefer on the Player’s Balcony – don’t forget after your games there is a player’s bar too with special pricing.

Medical

If you don’t have a team physio, we have got you covered. Every rugby match will have at least two physios looking after the teams and a physio covering the netball court too. We also have Doctors and an ambulance on standby. We have you covered and your safety at our heart.

Sports Massage Therapists

Stay in tip-top condition during the competition with our team of sports massage therapists who will be on hand to ease out the stress of the match. If you prefer, there’s always an ice bath or two!

Officials

For the third year running we are delighted to welcome the team from “7s Referee” who will be doing exactly what they say on the tin, providing experienced 7s referees and umpires to both sports.

These specialist referees travel the world officiating at some of the biggest and best competitions, their dedication, attention to detail & self-reflection makes them leaders in their field.

Live Stream

2023 was a milestone for the Gib 7s Live Stream with over 14 thousand views. This year our stream will be 73% bigger with over 35 hours of live action of rugby and netball.

Accommodation Options

All of our accommodation options are for a FOUR night package for 14 people (12 players + 2 support staff) bed and breakfast, based on 2 or 3 people sharing – arrive Thursday and depart Monday.
